Walker County

The Georgia General Assembly established Walker County on December 18, 1833, from lands formerly held by the Cherokee Nation. This creation reflected the territorial expansion and political reorganization taking place in northwestern Georgia during that era.

The county maintains strong ties to Civil War history through the Chickamauga Campaign sites, including the Second Battle of Chattanooga and Battle of Davis's Cross Roads.

The Tri-State Crematory incident of 2002 revealed 339 unprocessed bodies on a property in Noble, leading to criminal charges and national media coverage.
