St. Lawrence County, Administrative county in northern New York, US
St. Lawrence County is an administrative county in the northern part of New York State and covers a large area. The region contains the Oswegatchie River, Cranberry Lake, and portions of the Adirondack Park.
The county was created in 1802 from portions of neighboring jurisdictions. During the following decades, the administrative center shifted from Ogdensburg to Canton.
Higher education plays a central role, with St. Lawrence University and SUNY Potsdam shaping how many local communities develop and interact. Students and faculty are woven into the everyday life of towns throughout the region.

Ogdensburg contains a major international port on the St. Lawrence Seaway that connects ships between the river and the Great Lakes. This port is the only one operated by the United States at this location on the waterway.
