Medina, County seat in northeastern Ohio, United States.

Medina stretches across an area featuring fourteen parks spanning eight hundred acres, with a downtown district containing shops, restaurants, and historical buildings.

The city, established in 1816, changed its name from Mecca to Medina and experienced significant growth following the completion of the Ohio and Erie Canal in 1830.

The Medina Square Historic District displays Victorian architecture constructed over a decade following devastating fires in 1848 and 1870.

Located 33 miles south of Cleveland and 23 miles west of Akron, Medina maintains over 100 miles of roads and 200 miles of curbside infrastructure.

The A.I. Root Company, founded in 1869, became the largest employer in Medina by 1886 with 97 workers manufacturing beehives and beekeeping equipment.
