Historic Crew Stadium, Soccer stadium in Columbus, United States
Historic Crew Stadium is a soccer arena in Columbus, Ohio featuring 22,555 seats arranged in a horseshoe layout with a natural grass pitch and a permanent stage at the north end. The open side of the horseshoe allows clear views of the city skyline and lets daylight flow through the entire facility.
The arena opened on May 15, 1999 and became the first purpose-built facility for a Major League Soccer team in the United States. After 22 years as a home venue, its primary use shifted in 2021 to a training and community sports center.
The venue carries the nickname "The Original Soccer Palace" among supporters who celebrated home victories here for over two decades. The name honors the pioneering role the structure played in professional soccer across North America and remains a symbol of the league's early growth.
Multiple concession stands and merchandise shops are spread throughout the grounds, while accessible seating areas are available in all main sections. Parking spaces sit within walking distance of the main entrance and connect easily via city streets.
The pitch was replaced during several renovations with a specially developed grass variety that withstands extreme temperature changes. This variety allows matches during both summer heat and winter months without notable damage to the playing surface.
