Dededo, Commercial center in northern Guam, United States
Dededo is a village in northern Guam situated on a limestone plateau above the Northern Aquifer that supplies water to the island. The community spreads across this elevated terrain with commercial areas, residential neighborhoods, and local services distributed throughout.
The village was established in 1946 when residents moved two miles north to an area called Liguan and built Santa Barbara Church. This relocation marked the beginning of the settlement at its present location.
Two annual Catholic fiestas mark the calendar in Dededo, with Santa Barbara celebrated in December and Saint Andrew Kim honored in July.
The village center is located at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 16, where the Micronesia Mall offers shops and entertainment options. The area is walkable and provides parking for visitors.
Multiple vegetable stands along Fatima Road sell fresh locally grown produce, reflecting the area's farming background. These roadside vendors demonstrate how agricultural practices from earlier generations remain part of daily life today.
