Guam Cable Station, Telecommunications building ruins in Hågat, US
The Guam Cable Station remains include a main building, living quarters, and water supply system designed to withstand natural hazards.
Built in 1903 by Commercial Pacific Cable Company, this station established the first modern telecommunications connection between Guam and the world.
The station served as a communications center and weather monitoring facility, connecting Guam with Hawaii, China, and Yap through submarine cables.
Located at coordinates 13°26'17"N and 144°38'57"E, the deteriorated structure occupies 6 acres within the Naval Base Guam grounds.
The cable installation completed in June 1903 marked the final link in establishing worldwide telecommunications coverage around the globe.
