Little Canada, city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States
Little Canada is a city in Ramsey County, Minnesota, sitting just north of St. Paul along the edge of the Twin Cities metro area. It is made up mostly of residential streets with single-family homes and a handful of local businesses along its main roads.
The area was settled in the 19th century by French-Canadian families, which is where the city gets its name. After World War II, the land shifted from farms to a suburban community as St. Paul continued to grow outward.
Little Canada is easy to reach by car from St. Paul, with several main roads running through or near the city. Bus routes also connect it to the wider Twin Cities area for those without a car.
The name Little Canada is one of the few direct traces of French-Canadian settlement still visible in the Twin Cities area today. While that heritage is no longer obvious in daily life, it occasionally shows up in local place names around the city.
