Morton Arboretum, Arboretum in Lisle, United States.
The Morton Arboretum is a botanical garden and nature reserve in Lisle, around 25 miles (40 km) west of Chicago. The grounds include forests, wetlands, and open meadow areas connected by a network of roads and walking trails.
Joy Morton founded this place in 1922 to collect and study trees. His family ran the Morton Salt Company and promoted conservation projects in the region.
The name honors Joy Morton, whose family worked in the salt trade for generations and supported reforestation efforts. Today you see groups walking the paths, joining guided tours or simply strolling among the tree collections.
The grounds are accessible through several entrances, and most paths are wide enough for wheelchairs and strollers. Visitors driving in will find marked parking areas near the main sections.
The garden holds a section with a hedge maze where visitors walk between the plants. A platform in the center offers a view from above over the winding paths.
