Met Center, Indoor arena in Bloomington, US

Met Center was a multipurpose indoor arena with a capacity of about 15,000 seats, designed for ice hockey games and concert events. The seating sections featured multiple colors strategically arranged to create the visual impression of a fuller crowd during television broadcasts.

The arena opened on October 21, 1967, with an inaugural ice hockey game featuring the Minnesota North Stars. It remained a major venue for the region's sports and entertainment scene for decades until its eventual closure.

The venue served as a gathering place where people came together to experience concerts and sports events, becoming a center for major performances by diverse artists. The public could witness both national and international stars live here, and the community shared memorable moments within these walls.

Visitors should prepare for cold winters and large crowds at popular events, especially during hockey games on frigid days. The arena was accessible and staff were helpful in assisting guests with everyday challenges they might encounter.

The arena was the first ice hockey venue to introduce advertising boards along the rink's sideboards, a practice quickly adopted by other facilities. This innovation reshaped how sports venues generate revenue and became standard in venues worldwide.
