Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, Football stadium in Annapolis, United States
Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is a sports venue in Annapolis that serves the United States Naval Academy. The grounds hold over 34,000 seats and display memorial plaques on benches and wall inscriptions honoring naval and Marine Corps engagements since the early 1900s.
The stadium opened in 1959 and replaced the older Thompson Stadium, which could no longer accommodate the Naval Academy. This move marked the Academy's growth and provided space for its expanding sports programs.
The stadium brings together midshipmen who march ceremonially before each game in their dress uniforms. This tradition ties the place to the Academy's identity and its military heritage.
The grounds are easily reached on foot from downtown Annapolis and offer plenty of parking for visitors. Inside you'll find concession stands, restrooms, and accessible areas that make watching a game comfortable.
The grounds hosted a rare outdoor National Hockey League game in 2018 between the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs. This was one of the few times such a major professional ice hockey competition took place at a venue with strong military heritage.
