Michie Stadium, Football stadium at US Military Academy in West Point, United States.
Michie Stadium is a football field on the Military Academy campus in West Point, situated 335 feet above sea level. The facility seats about 38,000 people and sits beside Lusk Reservoir in the upper part of the grounds.
Construction of the facility began in 1923 to support the expanding football program at the Academy. The first game took place in October 1924 against Saint Louis University.
The stadium honors Dennis Michie, a cadet who started the first football team at the Academy in 1890. His name remains tied to the sport's roots at this military institution.
The field uses AstroPlay artificial turf, installed in 2001 to reduce upkeep and maintain consistent playing conditions in all weather. The elevated position on campus means some paths leading to the stadium involve inclines.
From the stands, visitors can see directly across to the Hudson River, a feature that caught the attention of Sports Illustrated. This location makes it one of the few stadiums with such views of a major waterway.
