Rock Lawn and Carriage House, Historic house on the National Register of Historic Places in Garrison, New York.
Rock Lawn and Carriage House features Renaissance Revival architecture with a stucco-faced brick main house, circular projecting bay with conical roof, and a Shingle Style carriage house designed by Stanford White.
The main house was constructed between 1852 and 1853 by architect Richard Upjohn, representing his only Italian villa style work in the Hudson Highlands region.
The estate served as home to notable figures including Hamilton Fish II, a key Republican Party leader and New York lawmaker during the late 1800s.
Located on approximately 12.3 acres along Upper Station Road near the Hudson River, the property offers panoramic views across to West Point and maintains landscaped grounds with mature shade trees.
The property was purchased in the early 1980s by Patty Hearst and Bernard Shaw, who undertook extensive renovations while preserving the historic integrity of both structures.
