Battle Creek Cypress Swamp Sanctuary is a nature preserve with roughly 100 acres of wetland dominated by bald cypress trees. An elevated boardwalk about a quarter mile long guides visitors through the swamp environment for closer observation.
The Nature Conservancy established the preserve as its first sanctuary in Maryland in 1957. It earned National Natural Landmark status in 1965.
