Fairfield University Art Museum, University art museum at Fairfield University, Connecticut, United States.
Fairfield University Art Museum is an on-campus museum with two exhibition spaces: the Bellarmine Hall Galleries for permanent collections and the Walsh Gallery for rotating exhibitions. The collection includes Renaissance and Baroque paintings alongside non-Western artworks spanning multiple centuries and cultures.
The museum opened in 2010 with Renaissance and Baroque paintings from the Samuel H. Kress Collection as its foundational works. Since its establishment, it has grown to acquire and display artworks across different periods and regions.
The collection features artworks from non-Western cultures, including Chinese burial objects, pre-Columbian pieces, and Southeast Asian sculptures from the 1800s. These works reflect how different civilizations expressed craftsmanship, beliefs, and daily life through art.
The museum is located on campus and welcomes visitors Tuesday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm with no admission charge. Hours may vary during university breaks, so it is helpful to check ahead before planning your visit.
The museum receives long-term loans from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, including around 20 objects from Celtic, Medieval, and Renaissance periods. These borrowed works allow visitors to see rare and important pieces that would otherwise be unavailable locally.
