Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Art Deco cathedral in Bismarck, North Dakota, US.
The Cathedral of the Holy Spirit is a place of worship with white concrete construction and geometric patterns in the Art Deco style. Its tall bell tower is visible from great distances and shapes the skyline of Bismarck.
Construction of this cathedral began in 1941 after delays caused by economic hardship. It opened officially in 1945 and has since served as a religious symbol for the city.
This cathedral serves as the spiritual center of the Diocese of Bismarck and an important gathering place for the Catholic community. Regular services, weddings, and other religious celebrations take place within its walls.
The cathedral is located downtown and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should enter respectfully during service times and be mindful of the prayer practices inside.
This is the only cathedral in the United States built entirely in the Art Deco style. Its streamlined forms and geometric decorations set it apart from all other American religious buildings.
