Cessna Stadium

Cessna Stadium is an athletic venue at Wichita State University with an eight-lane polyurethane track designed for competitive running events. The facility accommodates roughly 31,500 spectators across a concrete and steel structure.

The facility opened in 1946 as Veterans Field before being renamed in 1968 following a major donation from Cessna Aircraft Company. This renaming marked a turning point in the venue's development.

The venue serves as a major hub for track and field competition across the region, drawing athletes from multiple states for important meets. Local schools and universities view it as a destination for their most significant athletic competitions.

The venue is open on weekdays during daylight hours and offers parking around the grounds. Visitors should confirm in advance which areas are open to the public during their visit.

The Rolling Stones performed here in 1968 and set a record for the largest concert attendance in Wichita at that time. This event remains part of the venue's musical legacy.
