Duke Island Park

Duke Island Park is a county park spanning roughly 340 acres of natural land bordered by the Raritan River and the Raritan Water Power Canal. The grounds feature multiple sports fields, walking trails, cycling paths, and a visitor center with restrooms and information resources.

The Somerset County Park Commission added this land to their park system in 1958 and developed it into a recreational space. The conversion from previous uses to parkland opened public access to this river area.

The bandstand hosts free summer concerts where local residents and visitors gather to enjoy live music performances in the open air. These events create a gathering place where people experience performances as part of their regular outdoor routine.

The park is easy to reach by car with ample parking available. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially if planning to use the walking trails or cycling paths.

The park transforms during winter months to host seasonal activities like ice skating and cross-country skiing on its grounds. This seasonal shift turns the landscape into a different recreational setting during the colder months.
