Anif Palace, Water palace near Salzburg, Austria

Anif Palace is a castle with neo-Gothic features situated beside an artificial pond at Salzburg's southern edge, displaying white walls and multiple towers. The buildings cluster around this body of water, which gives the property its distinctive character.

In the mid-1800s, Count Alois Arco-Stepperg completely transformed the original structure between 1838 and 1848, giving the palace its present appearance. This conversion made the site an important building in the region.

The palace holds a place in regional memory because King Ludwig III of Bavaria sought shelter here during political upheaval. This event shaped how the location is remembered in the area's history.

The palace is privately owned and not freely accessible to visitors. Those wanting to see the interior must arrange visits in advance and receive limited access.

The palace served as a filming location for several well-known movies, including The Sound of Music and other internationally recognized productions. This connection to cinema history makes the place particularly interesting for film enthusiasts.
