Villa Swoboda is a Neo-Renaissance villa in Anif, a small village just south of Salzburg, featuring an asymmetrical tower with a flat roof. White window surrounds and corner stones in cut stone give the facade a structured and orderly appearance.
The estate was completed in 1869, built for pharmacist wholesaler Wilhelm Swoboda by architect Karl Sattler. It later became connected to the Austrian ruling family when it was used for a royal wedding celebration.
The residence served as a backdrop for royal connections in Austrian history and today hosts large celebrations. Locals and visitors recognize it as a landmark linked to the area's noble past.
The property is now known as Casa Austria and operates as a private venue, so access inside is generally not open to the public. The building can be viewed from the road outside.
The garden surrounding the villa was laid out in the English style on land that once belonged to the Mayerhofgut, one of the largest farms in Anif. This shift from farmland to private garden reflects how the village changed during the 1800s.
