Maria-Theresien-Schlössl, Salzburg

The Maria-Theresien-Schlössl is a building with neo-Baroque style located in Salzburg, featuring ornate stucco decoration on its exterior surfaces. The residence sits within a park landscape that includes multiple fish ponds set throughout the grounds.

The building was constructed in 1901 for military officer Josef Ritter von Lommer and underwent major architectural changes in 1935. Architects Alfred Keller and Martin Knoll led the redesign that shaped its present-day appearance.

The building operated as an upscale hotel and restaurant from 1954 to 2007, drawing prominent visitors and becoming a social destination during those decades. Its restaurant offered dining in elegant spaces that reflected the refined lifestyle of that era.

The property is located near Schloss Hellbrunn and now serves as a private residence that is not open to visitors. Walking paths around the exterior allow guests to view the surrounding park landscape without entering the private grounds.

The estate contains several large fish ponds that date back to 1866, when it served as Austria's central institution for artificial fish breeding. These historic ponds are an unexpected feature on what later became a hotel property.
