The Weltmuseum Wien houses over 400,000 ethnographical and archaeological objects representing cultures from Asia, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas within its collection.
The museum originated in 1876 as part of the Austrian Museum of Ethnology, later separating from the Natural History Museum in 1928 and relocating to the Hofburg Palace.
Through its extensive collection of artifacts, photographs, and printed works, the museum presents diverse cultural narratives and traditions from societies across the globe.
The museum welcomes visitors from Thursday to Monday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with extended hours until 9:00 PM on Tuesdays.
Among its notable exhibits stands a ceremonial feathered headdress connected to Emperor Moctezuma II, which Austria acquired from France in 1880.
