Weltmuseum Wien, Anthropological museum in Hofburg Palace, Vienna, Austria

The Weltmuseum Wien is located in the Hofburg Palace and displays around 400,000 objects from Africa, Asia, the Americas, and the Pacific region. The collection includes artworks, ancient pieces, photographs, and written records representing different cultures.

The museum began in 1876 as a collection of ethnographical objects and was at first part of a larger institution. In the 20th century, it became independent and moved to its current location in the Hofburg Palace.

The museum displays objects from different cultures around the world, from everyday crafts to religious items that people have kept from their daily lives. As you walk through the rooms, you can see how differently people everywhere on Earth have lived and worked.

The museum is easy to reach on foot, located directly in Vienna's city center. Visitors should plan for one to two hours to explore the exhibitions and see the different sections.

The museum holds a famous feathered crown that spent many years in French collections before eventually coming to Vienna. This elaborate headdress from the Americas draws many visitors curious about its past.
