Welser Hütte, Mountain hut in Grünau im Almtal, Austria
Welser Hütte is a wooden structure perched at 1726 meters in the Totes Gebirge mountains, positioned below the peaks of Großer Priel and Schermberg. The building accommodates 108 guests with 28 indoor beds and an 80-person camping area.
The Austrian Alpine Association established this wooden refuge in 1969 to serve mountaineers in the northern limestone Alps of Upper Austria. This founding proved crucial for opening up access and safety in this high mountain region.
