Dobrićevo Monastery

Dobrićevo is a stone monastery measuring approximately 16 meters long and 8 meters wide, featuring traditional Orthodox architectural elements. The structure displays the characteristic building style of religious buildings from this region and period.

The monastery dates to the 15th or 16th century and was relocated to its current site in 1964. The move was necessary due to construction of the Grančarevo Dam.

The monastery contains frescoes by Georgije Mitrofanović that represent important examples of Serbian Orthodox religious art. These works give the space its spiritual character and reflect a rich artistic heritage.

The site is accessible to visitors year-round and becomes particularly active during Slava, a religious celebration held during the Presentation of Mary. It is advisable to check local opening times in advance and wear respectful clothing.

Local traditions connect the monastery's foundation to Emperor Constantine and his mother Helena, who reportedly selected this location for its special qualities. These stories remain deeply rooted in the region's collective memory.
