University of Chittagong

The University of Chittagong is a public research institution for higher education in the northern part of Chittagong city. Several residential halls, faculty buildings, and administrative units stand on a sprawling site marked by hills and wooded areas.

The institution began operating in November 1966 after years of local campaigns for an academic facility in the region. At first only a few departments opened, but over the following decades the number of programs and buildings grew steadily.

The campus occupies a hilly area that gives a sense of space and quiet among trees and meadows. Students move between scattered faculties on paths that cross green areas and connect everyday life with nature.

A rail shuttle connects the site to several stations in Chittagong and makes daily access easier for students and faculty. Visitors should note that the faculties are spread across the site and walking between buildings takes time.

A dedicated museum preserves regional artworks and objects from the history of the surrounding area and has been open to students and visitors since the 1970s. The collection includes manuscripts, sculptures, and textiles that offer insight into local traditions.
