Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College, Faridpur, government medical college and hospital located in Faridpur, Bangladesh
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College is a public medical school located in the West Khabashpur area of Faridpur, with a campus that includes a teaching hospital, laboratories, a library, and student hostels. The attached hospital serves both patients and medical students, who use it for hands-on clinical training throughout their studies.
The college was founded by the Bangladesh government in 1992 in Faridpur town, then moved to a larger campus in West Khabashpur in 2017. It was renamed in 2021 to honor Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who is widely regarded as the founding father of Bangladesh.
Students from across the country move here to live in shared hostels and study together over several years. The campus has a strong sense of community, with study groups and shared traditions that grow naturally from that daily closeness.
The college is open on weekdays and Saturdays, and closed on Sundays, so planning a visit midweek gives the best chance of seeing the campus active. The hospital and main buildings are accessible from the campus entrance, and staff can guide visitors who need orientation.
Until 2013, students at the college could advance to the next year of study even if they had failed their exams, which was unusual for a medical school. That year the rules changed, and passing exams became a requirement before moving forward in the program.
