Ramu Cantonment, Military cantonment in Ramu Upazila, Bangladesh
Ramu Cantonment is a military base in Ramu Upazila, in southeastern Bangladesh. It covers a range of facilities, including barracks, administrative buildings, a hospital, and residential and school areas.
The base was formally established in 2014 as a unified command under the 10th Infantry Division, replacing a smaller military station that had existed before. This made it a more substantial military presence in the southeastern part of the country.
Educational facilities within the cantonment include the Ramu Cantonment English School and College, serving military families and local residents.
Access to active military areas within the base is restricted, and prior authorization is generally required before entering. Anyone planning a visit should check in advance with the relevant authorities to avoid being turned away.
The base was allocated wooded land across 3 separate mouza areas as part of a conservation effort, which is unusual for a military installation. These forested patches sit alongside the formal layout of the base, creating a visible contrast.
