Paleis of Justice in Antwerp

The Paleis of Justice is a modern courthouse in Antwerp featuring six wing-like sections radiating from a central reception area. The structure spans multiple levels and houses numerous courtrooms used for civil and criminal cases.

Construction of this courthouse began in 2001 and finished in 2006. King Albert attended the official opening ceremony, marking an important moment for the city's judicial administration.

The building's name references the palace tradition, underlining the importance of justice in the city. Large glass surfaces throughout the structure show how modern courts aim to be transparent and welcoming to the public.

The building features specially designed acoustic glass panels that shield courtroom proceedings from outside noise. Additionally, the roof collects rainwater that is reused within the building.
