Autoworld, Automobile museum in Parc du Cinquantenaire, Brussels, Belgium
Autoworld is an automobile museum in a neoclassical building in Parc du Cinquantenaire that displays more than 300 vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles from 1896 to the present day. The collection spreads across multiple levels and shows the evolution of vehicle technology as well as various national automobiles from different periods.
The museum opened in 1986 and is based on a private collection that began in 1944 with a Ford T. The collection has grown to show the development of automobile manufacturing over nearly 130 years.
The collection shows Belgian automotive history with vehicles built in Belgium and royal cars that still stand in the exhibition rooms. These automobiles tell the story of Belgium's role in European car manufacturing during the 20th century.
The museum is located in Parc du Cinquantenaire and is reachable by metro via Schuman or Merode stations on lines 1 and 5. The exhibition can be walked through at a comfortable pace, with most areas accessible without climbing stairs.
The collection contains rare Minerva models built in Belgium, representing one of the leading automobile manufacturers of the early 20th century. Today these Belgian cars are hard to find outside their home country and show a side of European industrial history that is often overlooked.
