Superman: La Atracción de Acero, Steel roller coaster in Parque Warner Madrid, Spain.
Superman: La Atracción de Acero is a floorless roller coaster that features seven inversions along its route and climbs to approximately 50 meters (164 feet) in height. The ride operates two trains that each carry 32 passengers, reaching speeds of roughly 100 kilometers per hour (62 miles per hour).
Built by the Swiss manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard, this coaster opened in 2002 at Parque Warner Madrid. It was pioneering as the first floorless coaster of its type to operate in Europe at that time.
The ride incorporates Superman comic themes throughout, with the queue designed to resemble the Daily Planet newspaper office from the stories. Comic book imagery and decorations surround visitors as they wait.
Riders need to meet a minimum height requirement of about 130 centimeters (52 inches) to board this coaster. The ride processes roughly 1,000 visitors per hour, so visiting early in the day or checking wait times helps avoid longer lines.
This coaster features a straight vertical drop rather than the typical curved descent found on most other rides of this type. This direct plunge creates a particularly intense sensation during the descent.
