Batman: Arkham Asylum, Steel roller coaster at Warner Bros Park, Madrid, Spain
Batman: Arkham Asylum is a steel roller coaster at Warner Bros Park Madrid, taking riders through a series of inversions at high speed. The track runs above ground level and the train keeps riders in a seated position throughout the ride.
The ride opened in 2002 under the name Batman la Fuga and was among the first attractions at Warner Bros Park Madrid. In 2023, it received its current name, Batman: Arkham Asylum, as part of a wider retheme.
The ride draws from the Batman universe and places visitors inside the world of Arkham Asylum, the fictional facility from DC Comics where villains are locked away. The theming around the queue area and boarding zone reflects this dark setting through props and decorative elements.
There is a minimum height requirement to ride, and it is a good idea to store personal belongings in the lockers available near the entrance before boarding. The ride may stop operating during strong winds or bad weather, so checking conditions on arrival is worthwhile.
In 2017, this was the first roller coaster in Spain to offer virtual reality headsets to riders, pairing digital visuals with the physical motion of the track. The technology was later removed, but it marked a notable moment in the history of theme parks in the country.
