Moguer is a municipality in Huelva Province in southwestern Andalusia, stretching between the Rio Tinto river and the Atlantic Ocean. The area encompasses two urban centers, Moguer and Mazagón, that are connected by roads.
The area was established as a Señorío in 1333, followed by the construction of Santa Clara Monastery in 1337. These early foundations shaped what the place became over the centuries.
The Nobel Prize-winning poet Juan Ramón Jiménez was born here and wrote his famous work Platero y yo in this area. His presence has shaped the town and continues to draw visitors who want to explore his legacy.
