Casa de la Familia Hernández-Pinzón

The Hernández-Pinzón house is a 16th-century residence in Moguer with two stories, a centered entry, and three upper-floor balconies fitted with cast-iron railings. An interior courtyard forms the heart of the structure, displaying the typical layout of an Andalusian manor house from that period.

The structure was built in the second half of the 16th century as a home for a family whose members served as naval officers for the Spanish crown. Multiple generations of seafaring commanders shaped the house's history, eventually attracting foreign literary visitors during later periods.

The mansion hosted visits from foreign literary figures who admired its interior spaces and verdant courtyard. These visits established the residence as a meeting point between the town and the international cultural world.

The house is visible from the street and offers a clear view of its facade with balconies and entrance door. Daytime visits work best for seeing the architectural details and the cast-iron railings clearly.

Admiral Luis Hernández-Pinzón Álvarez, a family member, organized events to mark the 400th anniversary of America's discovery. Commemorative plaques on the main facade honor his contribution to this significant moment in the town's history.
