Basílica de la Macarena, Minor basilica in Macarena district, Seville, Spain.

Basílica de la Macarena is a neoclassical baroque church in the Macarena district featuring ornate altars, stained glass windows, and elaborate religious sculptures throughout its interior. Every surface displays richly decorated elements and carefully crafted artistic details.

Construction began in 1941 to create a permanent home for the revered statue of Virgin of Hope, known as La Macarena. The building was established to provide this important religious image with a worthy sanctuary.

This basilica is home to the revered statue of Virgin of Hope, venerated by devotees throughout Seville. During Holy Week, you can see the statue carried through the city streets in solemn processions.

The church is conveniently located and easily accessible by public transportation, with several bus lines stopping near Calle Bécquer. It is best to check opening hours beforehand and visit during quieter periods for a more peaceful experience.

The statue wears five precious brooches made of diamonds and emeralds, gifted by matador Joselito El Gallo in 1912. These jewels make it one of the richest and most honored religious images in Spain.
