Hospital de la Santa Caridad, Baroque hospital and museum in Arenal district, Seville, Spain.

The Hospital de la Santa Caridad is a baroque building with an ornate facade featuring three levels of moldings, columns, tiles, and statue niches. The complex brings together a courtyard, a chapel, and rooms that once served patients.

Miguel de Mañara founded this hospital in 1682 on the site of former shipyards from the time of Alfonso X. The building was created to shelter sick and poor people.

The church here contains artworks that speak to religious themes of compassion and human dignity. Visitors encounter how art and faith came together to express the purpose of this place.

The building sits in the city center and is easy to reach on foot; entry is through a marked entrance structure. Plan time to explore the chapel and courtyards, especially if you want to look closely at the artworks.

The building still serves its original purpose today by providing care for elderly residents in an adjacent care facility. This keeps the place alive and continuing the social mission its founder gave it centuries ago.
