Puig de l'Ofre, Mountain summit in Escorca, Spain
Puig de l'Ofre is a mountain in the Serra de Tramuntana range that rises about 1100 meters high. Its slopes are covered with pine forests that give the peak a green appearance even from a distance.
The mountain was known and used by locals on hidden paths for centuries. During the 19th century, smugglers brought this area into use as a route for moving goods discreetly through the mountains.
The mountain area shows old limestone kilns and snow houses that reflect how mountain communities once lived and worked here. These structures tell stories of the practical skills people developed to survive in this terrain.
The hike starts from the parking area at Cuber Reservoir and follows the marked GR 221 trail upward. Plan for a full day and bring sturdy hiking boots, as the route is steep and rocky in places.
From the summit, you can see two reservoirs side by side, Cuber and Gorg Blau. This rare dual-lake view from one peak creates a memorable perspective of the landscape below.
