Cúber, body of water
Cúber is a reservoir in the mountains of Escorca on Mallorca, created in 1972 behind a dam. The water sits among steep rocky slopes and forested areas, with the surrounding land covering more than 360 hectares.
The reservoir was built in 1972 to store water and control flooding for the region. Before this, the area was working farmland and pasture where farmers grew crops and woodcutters worked in the oak forests.
The name Cúber reflects the water that defines this place in local tradition. Visitors experience how the landscape brings together people seeking quiet moments and a connection with nature.
A marked circular walk of about 4 kilometers goes around the reservoir and takes about an hour. The paths are not suitable for wheelchairs or strollers due to stairs and uneven ground, but the trails are well maintained and easy to follow.
The water reflects on a calm surface, showing the sky or nearby rocks in the reflection. Birdwatchers often spot waterfowl resting on the water or flying overhead in this location.
