Fundació Antoni Tàpies

The Fundació Antoni Tàpies occupies a converted industrial building with exposed brick and steel details across three exhibition levels. It presents rotating displays of works alongside contemporary art exhibitions.

The building was originally the Montaner i Simon publishing house, which printed art catalogs and specialized books for roughly 120 years. In 1990 it became a foundation dedicated to presenting the artist's body of work.

The foundation displays the work of a Catalan artist known for exploring painting and object-based art with unconventional materials. Visitors experience how the creator engaged with everyday substances and abstract forms throughout his career.

The foundation is located near Passeig de Gràcia metro station and is easily accessible by public transport. It is helpful to check opening hours in advance and allow time to explore all three exhibition floors at a comfortable pace.

The building's most distinctive feature is a large-scale sculpture on the roof created from aluminum and steel wire by the artist himself. It is visible from street level and gives the building a striking presence in the neighborhood.
