Iglesia de Nosa Señora das Areas

The church displays characteristic Romanesque features with rounded arches, granite walls, and a quadrangular tower overlooking the coastal landscape of Fisterra.

Founded on January 17, 1101, the church underwent modifications between the 12th and 13th centuries, including additions of multiple chapels and a sacristy.

The church holds the designation of Bien de Interés Cultural and houses the Gothic image of Santo Cristo de Fisterra within its stone walls.

Located at the foot of Monte San Guillermo, the church remains open throughout the year for visitors following the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route.

According to local accounts, the Gothic figure of Santo Cristo was discovered in the sea and retrieved by residents from the nearby beach.
