Playa de Camposoto, Sandy beach in San Fernando, Spain
Playa de Camposoto is a long sandy beach on the Atlantic coast of San Fernando, in Cadiz Province. It runs along the edge of the Bay of Cadiz Natural Park, bordered by dunes and low coastal vegetation.
Concrete bunkers were built along this stretch of coast during past conflicts to defend the Bay of Cadiz. Some of these structures are still visible on the beach today.
The beach is mostly used by locals from San Fernando, who come here to swim and spend time by the water in a relaxed, everyday way. The presence of nearby fishing activity gives the shore a working coastal feel that sets it apart from more tourist-oriented beaches.
The beach has showers, lifeguards, access ramps, and beach bars available during the summer season. Wind can be strong along this part of the Atlantic coast, so checking conditions before heading out is a good idea.
In winter, when Atlantic swells grow stronger, this beach draws surfers who find waves that are barely present in summer. The same shore feels like a different place depending on the season you visit.
