Pozo Izquierdo

Pozo Izquierdo is a shingle and sand beach on the eastern coast of Gran Canaria, combining olive-toned sand with rounded stones along its length. The wide shoreline offers shallow waters and natural conditions suited for water sports activities.

The name comes from a salt water well where farmers watered livestock during pre-Hispanic times. This spring marked an important resource for settlements in the eastern region.

The Professional Windsurfers Association has designated this location as an official competition site since 1988, drawing international athletes annually.

The beach is easily reached from the GC-1 motorway, with several water sports schools and equipment rental shops nearby. Conditions can change quickly depending on the season and weather, so it is best to check local forecasts before visiting.

Strong trade winds create steady conditions that draw professional athletes for training and competitions. This natural force makes the beach a preferred destination for freestyle and wave sailors.
