Cocodrilo Park Zoo, Animal rescue center in Agüimes, Spain.
Cocodrilo Park Zoo is an animal rescue facility in Agüimes that provides shelter for creatures that can no longer live in the wild. The center keeps foxes, lemurs, storks, parrots, and numerous reptile species in specially designed enclosures.
The facility was founded in the 1980s after Spain signed international agreements protecting endangered species. This created a need to properly house abandoned and confiscated exotic animals.
The park conducts educational sessions about responsible pet ownership and teaches visitors about the challenges of caring for exotic animals.
The park opens only on certain days of the week, so visitors should check hours beforehand. The grounds are relatively compact and can be explored easily on foot, though sturdy shoes are recommended.
The park is home to an exceptionally large crocodile that ranks among the biggest in European facilities. This remarkable resident draws many visitors as the main attraction of the center.
