Parque Amate, Urban park in Cerro-Amate district, Seville, Spain.
Parque Amate is an urban park in the Cerro-Amate district of Seville with wide pathways, fountains, and exercise equipment distributed across its grounds. Jacaranda and oak trees provide green spaces throughout where visitors can walk and rest.
Planning for the site began after an urban development plan in 1962, with construction starting in 1974 and the grounds cleaned before opening in 1987. The creation of this green space was part of Seville's urban modernization during the decades following World War II.
Two large fountains with geometric designs serve as focal points throughout the grounds, reflecting modern artistic choices made during the park's development. These water features help define the character of different zones within the space.
The park is easy to reach by bus on several lines and the 1º de Mayo/Amate metro station nearby. Exercise equipment is spread throughout the grounds for visitors who want to stay active while walking the wide pathways.
From 1983 to 2012, a bullfighting school with a wooden training arena operated on the grounds, something most visitors do not know today. This unusual past use shows how the place has changed over time.
