Bolera de los Moros, Medieval castle in Peñarrubia, Spain
The stone fortress features a trapezoidal tower and an oval watchtower connected by a courtyard, measuring 10 and 6 meters in diameter.
Built between the 8th and 12th centuries, the Bolera de los Moros fortress served as a strategic control point for access routes to the coast.
The archaeological site contains remains of an early chapel dedicated to Saint Catherine and displays multiple decorated ceramics from the repopulation period.
Located on Mount Jozarcu, the site includes a parking area and informative signage to guide visitors through the archaeological remains.
The excavation project in 1999 uncovered wall sections and foundations across 300 square meters, revealing bone fragments, metals, and regional pottery.
