Bolera de los Moros

Bolera de los Moros is a fortress on Mount Jozarcu with two main structures: a trapezoidal tower and an oval watchtower connected by an inner courtyard. The site contains multiple ruins and archaeological remains that provide clues about the original layout and use.

The fortress emerged between the 8th and 12th centuries as a strategic control point for access routes to the coast. It played an important role in the region's defensive structure during the medieval period.

The remains show traces of an early chapel dedicated to Saint Catherine, reflecting religious life during that period. Ceramic pieces from the repopulation era provide insight into daily life for people who lived here.

The site sits on a hillside and is equipped with a parking area and informational signs to help you explore the ruins. Comfortable shoes are needed since the climb is steep and the ground remains uneven throughout.

An excavation in 1999 uncovered extensive foundations and wall sections across a wide area. The finds included bone fragments, metal objects, and regional pottery that offered insights into settlement patterns.
