Castle of Pedraja, Medieval castle ruins in Piélagos, Spain
The Castle of Pedraja stands on La Picota mountain with a rectangular tower, remains of a fence, and a moat measuring 5 meters wide and 2 meters deep.
Garcilaso I de la Vega established this fortification between the late 13th and early 14th centuries to protect the lordship of La Vega territory.
The structure represents a transition between Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles, serving as an administrative center for the House of La Vega.
Visitors can access the archaeological site through designated pathways, with the location offering views over the town of Liencres and surrounding landscapes.
The castle contained a defensive moat surrounding a square enclosure of 36 meters on each side, making it the largest fortification in eastern Asturias de Santillana.
