Casa consistorial de Jaén, City hall with neoclassical architecture in Jaén, Spain
Casa consistorial de Jaén is a municipal administrative building with neoclassical design located in central Jaén. The front elevation displays a balanced composition with three arched openings at ground level and a prominent central balcony framed by classical columns.
The building was constructed beginning in 1901 following the demolition of the Montemar Palace to make room for a new civic center. Further structural modifications took place between 1918 and 1922, establishing much of its current character.
The building has been the place where the city handles its civic life and residents come to manage local affairs. You can observe people moving through it regularly for administrative purposes or gathering for official celebrations.
The building sits in central Jaén and is easily accessible on foot with standard operating hours for administrative purposes. Guided tours of the interior can be arranged in advance if you wish to see the architectural details up close.
In 1949 the facade received a complete makeover to harmonize better with the neighboring cathedral and surrounding downtown area. This transformation shows how the building adapted to Jaén's urban development.
