Ciudad Pegaso, Architectural ensemble in Rejas, Spain.
Ciudad Pegaso is a residential complex in Rejas with buildings arranged in an ordered pattern around numbered streets from one to eleven surrounding Plaza San Cristobal. The site includes schools such as Jane Goodall secondary school, sports facilities, healthcare centers, and religious buildings integrated throughout.
The complex was founded in 1956 to house workers of ENASA, a state-owned vehicle manufacturer. Between 1956 and 1961, more than 1.300 homes were built as the company expanded its operations.
The housing was organized by job level, with large villas for engineers, garden-style houses for technicians, and apartments for factory workers. This layout shaped how different professional groups lived side by side and remains visible in the varying building styles across the neighborhood.
The site is well organized and suitable for walking and exploring the different residential zones and public areas. It is best visited during daylight hours to see the building structures and street layout clearly.
Originally, the entire site displayed the Pegaso logo on streets, buildings, and sidewalks, marking the strong bond between the neighborhood and the vehicle factory. This branding approach was unusual for urban planning and remains a distinctive feature of the complex.
