Gamazo dock, Heritage protected dry dock in Santander, Spain
The Gamazo dock features a rectangular base with a semicircular end, spans 3,382 square meters, and includes an east-facing gate with a pump house.
Construction of the Gamazo dock began in 1884 and finished in 1908, marking a major development in Santander's port infrastructure during the industrial period.
The iron entrance gate, installed in 1907, displays design elements characteristic of early 20th-century maritime engineering and industrial architecture.
Located in San Martin de Bajamar district near the Festival Palace, this dock offers views of Santander Bay and El Puntal Beach.
In 1918, a German U-Boot submarine entered the dock for repairs and remained there until the end of World War I.
