Palacete del Embarcadero, Exhibition palace at Muelle de Calderón waterfront, Santander, Spain.
Palacete del Embarcadero is a former passenger terminal on the waterfront in Santander that has been converted into exhibition spaces. The square-shaped structure features three cylindrical towers at its corners and a columned porch on the northern side.
The building was constructed in 1920 under architect Javier González de Riancho's direction as a royal dock for King Alfonso XIII's visits. It emerged as part of Santander's early modern maritime infrastructure.
The building displays maritime influences in its architecture and now hosts exhibitions about the port's past and contemporary artworks. Visitors can experience how the space connects the city to the sea.
The building sits directly on the harbor and is easy to locate when walking from the city center toward the waterfront. Exhibition spaces are accessible on most days, and the location is well served by public transportation.
The exterior was painted gray and looks completely different from the original white facade with dark molding from 1920. This color change significantly altered the building's appearance along the harbor.
