Embalse del Gergal, stuwmeer in Sevilla, Spanje
Embalse del Gergal is a reservoir in Seville Province that forms where the rivers Rivera de Huelva and Rivera de Cala meet. The concrete arch dam spans approximately 300 meters and holds water across roughly 252 hectares of surface area.
The dam was completed in 1979 and has served the region for water storage and distribution ever since. It was built by EMASESA, the company responsible for managing water supply to Seville and surrounding areas.
The site is accessible for walking and observing the water facility, with gardens and green spaces for rest. Visitors should be aware of maintenance work that occasionally occurs, though the grounds remain open to the public.
The dam features a special tower structure with openings at different depths, allowing water to be drawn from various layers of the reservoir. This ensures the water can be used optimally depending on what is needed.
