Corredor Verde de las Dos Bahías, Wildlife corridor in Cádiz Province, Spain
The Corredor Verde de las Dos Bahías is a long-distance trail running about 93 kilometers across Cádiz Province, linking protected natural areas from Puerto Real to Los Barrios. The route passes through Medina Sidonia and Benalup-Casas Viejas, following gravel paths suitable for walking, biking, and riding.
The corridor was created to link three key protected areas: Bahía de Cádiz Natural Park, Los Alcornocales Natural Park, and Marismas del Río Palmones Natural Area. Its development represented efforts to restore ecological connections across the region.
The path passes through farming communities where cork oak cultivation and livestock raising shape daily life and the local economy. Visitors can experience how rural traditions remain central to how people live and work in these villages.
Rest areas and information points are placed along the route to help visitors navigate and learn about the landscape. Sturdy footwear and drinking water are recommended, especially for longer stretches that have little shade.
The route is part of a European Green Network that stretches across the western Mediterranean, connecting regions from Spain through Portugal to southern France and Italy. This cross-border link makes it part of a larger conservation effort that extends far beyond the province.
